Adherence to your 'Data Sharing Agreement'
When using a resource, it is crucial to adhere to the terms and conditions specified by the data provider to ensure ethical and legal compliance. Here's how a user can ensure they are within the limits of the accepted terms and conditions:
1. Read and Understand the License Agreement
- Review the Terms: Carefully read the resource's terms of use, license agreement, or data sharing agreement provided by the data owner.
- Clarify Ambiguities: If any terms are unclear, seek clarification from the data provider.
2. Adhere to Usage Restrictions:
- Purpose of Use: Use the resource only for the purposes specified (e.g., academic research, non-commercial use, etc.).
- Redistribution: Do not share, redistribute, or sublicense the resource unless explicitly allowed.
- Modification: Follow guidelines on modifying or creating derivative works from the resource.
3. Acknowledge the Source:
- Citations: Properly cite the resource in any publications, presentations, or reports as specified by the data provider.
- Acknowledgments: Include any required acknowledgments in your work.
4. Protect Privacy and Confidentiality:
- Sensitive Data: Handle any personal or sensitive data in compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
- Anonymization: Ensure that data is anonymized if required, avoiding any attempts to re-identify individuals.

A Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) is an approved DSR. Within the DSR document it will have the approval as well as the terms and conditions for the requested data. See below an excerpt of an example of a DSA.
